Privacy Policy
Effective 1 October 2026
The short version
- ShiftMaster has no accounts, no servers, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Everything you record stays on your iPhone. I, the developer, never receive it.
- Data leaves your iPhone only when you use a feature that needs an online service: Apple Maps for routes and searches, and, if you choose to use Job ETA and agree first, the AI provider you selected.
Who I am
ShiftMaster is made by Daniel Sebastian Makar, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom (“I”, “me”). You can contact me at shiftmaster.help@gmail.com.
What the app keeps on your iPhone
- Shifts: start and end times, route, trailer number, vehicle registration, breaks and notes.
- Your timeline: the time and place of arrivals, departures and other stops, and estimated mileage.
- The sites you save: name, location and radius.
- Photos, videos and recordings you share into the app, with any captions you add.
- Reports, timesheets, invoices and planned jobs you create, including the business details, pay rates and bank details you type in for invoices.
- Your settings. Any AI provider API keys you enter are stored in the iOS Keychain.
All of this lives in the app’s private storage on your iPhone and is not sent to me. Your iPhone’s own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may include it, depending on your device settings.
Location
With your permission (“Always” access), ShiftMaster uses iOS visit monitoring, regions around the sites you save, and significant location changes to log arrivals and departures, including while the app is closed. It never runs continuous GPS tracking. Location data is stored only on your iPhone.
Online services the app uses
These are contacted only when you use the feature that needs them.
- Apple Maps (Apple). Used to calculate routes and drive times, look up addresses and postcodes, search for sites and draw map reports. The places involved (for example stop names, postcodes or coordinates) are sent to Apple to answer the request. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
- Google Maps links. If you paste a Google Maps link to add a site, the app opens that link to read its coordinates, which contacts Google. Google’s privacy policy applies.
- AI providers (Job ETA, optional). When you tap Analyse, the job-sheet screenshot you picked (resized) and your optional note for the AI are sent directly from your iPhone to the provider you chose: Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI. They are sent using your own API key. Before the first screenshot goes to a provider, the app asks for your consent and names that provider. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Job ETA. Anything visible in the screenshot, such as names, addresses or reference numbers, is sent with it. Your location, shifts, timeline, sites and other photos are never sent. The provider handles the data under its own privacy policy and your agreement with it: Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI. I never receive a copy.
- App Store (Apple). The free trial and the ShiftMaster Pro purchase are handled by Apple. I don’t receive your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether Pro is unlocked.
What I don’t do
I don’t sell data, show ads, track you across other apps or websites, or use analytics or crash-reporting services. There is no ShiftMaster account to create.
Your photo library
ShiftMaster only receives the photos and videos you choose to share into it. It never browses, imports, changes or deletes your photo library. Items linked to your library by an earlier version of the app may need Photos access to be shown or backed up.
Files you share
When you share or save a report, timesheet, invoice, backup or other file, it goes wherever you send it, for example email, a messaging app, the Files app or an external drive. From then on, the privacy terms of that recipient or service apply.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone itself. No notification server is involved.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your iPhone until you delete it. You can delete shifts and media inside the app, and deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone. Copies you exported or backed up yourself stay where you saved them. I hold no data about you, so there is nothing for me to delete and no account to close.
Your rights
UK data protection law (the UK GDPR) gives you rights over your personal data. Because ShiftMaster keeps your data on your device, you can view, export (Settings → Data), correct and delete it yourself at any time. For any questions, contact me at shiftmaster.help@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
ShiftMaster is a work tool for professional drivers and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
